Environmentally sustainable tourist behaviour is tourist behaviour which does not negatively impact the natural environment (or may even benefit the environment) both globally and at the destination.
Some example:
• Showing affection for nature, present and past experiences with nature, emotional indignation over inadequate natural protection, and cognitive attention in nature
• Psychographic in nature, such as attitudes (Becker et al., 1981; Carrus et al., 2005) and emotional affinity towards nature (Kals et al., 1999)
• Installing environmentally-friendly devices in one’s own household, using recycled water,
• Signing public petitions
• Actively campaigning on environmental concerns, membership in nature conservation groups, choice of transportation
• Contributing financially in support of nature protection causes
• Interested in learning.
• Perceiving regional identity, pro-environmental attitudes, unwillingness to put up with discomfort and a number of socio-demographic criteria characteristic for environmentally friendly individuals.
